Carson, located in the South Bay and Harbor regions of Los Angeles County, California, sits 13 miles (21 km) south of downtown Los Angeles and approximately 14 miles (23 km) from Los Angeles International Airport. Carson was named after George Henry Carson, a ranch manager who married into the Dominguez family.
